I am highlighting the seeds of a plant species on Saturdays that I am calling Seed Saturday!
This Saturday's feature is Dionaea muscipula, Venus Flytrap. Family Droseraceae.
Seed Information: The seeds are set in a pedicel or receptacle that when it dries or rehydrates, the seed is pinched and launched out!
Seed Description: The seeds are shiny and black. They have a rounded end and a more pointed end. The more pointed end fits into the socket of the receptacle.
Seeds were viewed using a dissecting microscope with magnification of 10x and 40x. Ruler marks are in millimeters (mm, metric system).
