Seed Saturday 15: Coriandrum sativum

I am highlighting the seeds of a plant species on Saturdays that I am calling Seed Saturday!

This Saturday's feature is Coriandrum sativum, Coriander, Cilantro. Family Apiaceae.

Seed Information: This seed is of cilantro, the leaves of the herb used to spice up salsa. The seed is the spice coriander. Interesting two spices from one plant species are named different for different parts of the plant. The spices taste good to me.

Seed Description: The seeds are round or spherical with it a tip at one end. Longitudinal lines or ridges go from end to end of the seed. The seeds are light brown to yellowish in color. The seeds have a scent when crushed.

Seeds were viewed using a dissecting microscope with magnification of 10x and 40x. Ruler marks are in millimeters (mm, metric system).
