Seed Saturday 18: Malva neglecta

I am highlighting the seeds of a plant species on Saturdays that I am calling Seed Saturday!

This Saturday's feature is Malva neglecta, Common Mallow. Family Malvaceae.

Seed Information: The seeds of this plant are found in a wedge of the fruit. The fruit can have many wedges forming a circle (the fruit pictured has 15 wedges). From the wedge, the skin or casing can be removed and the seed found within.

Seed Description: The seeds looked curled into an ear shape. The seeds are thickest at the outer edge, thinner in the middle. The seeds are light brown, to red, to orange or yellowish.

Seeds were viewed using a dissecting microscope with magnification of 10x and 40x. Ruler marks are in millimeters (mm, metric system).
