I am highlighting the seeds of a plant species on Saturdays that I am calling Seed Saturday!
This Saturday's feature is Albizia julibrissin, Mimosa, Silk Tree. Family Fabaceae.
Seed Information: The seeds are found within a long, flat, bean pod of a fruit; as found in many in the Fabaceae family. The seeds are too big to get into an entire view with 40x magnification.
Seed Description: The seeds are brown. The seeds are rounded, yet sort of flattened. The seeds may have a dimple that has a rounded portion in form, reminding me of an imprint of one side of an open paper clip.
Seeds were viewed using a dissecting microscope with magnification of 10x and 40x. Ruler marks are in millimeters (mm, metric system).
